Our Materials
Our commitment is to craft excellent activewear from natural fibers, with the fit & function you want and no polyester or plastic-based synthetic fabrics. We think that makes for healthier, better clothing that cuts down your contact with toxic chemicals and microplastics.
Our saying is that Merino wool is "the natural fiber for activewear." It stretches on its own, regulates temperature, and resists odor. That makes it an ideal pick for clothing that must withstand hard workouts.
We're proud that our Merino wool skips the conventional superwash treatment. Instead we moved to a new GOTS compliant method using ozone to gently descale the wool, so it stays machine washable to a degree without any chlorine or Hercosett-125. Since this process is free of plastic, expect roughly 4-7% shrinkage after 1-2 washes (based on our own shrinkage tests). That's a little higher than superwash wool, but we feel the compromise is worthwhile.
On top of that, independent testing confirms all our wool fabrics contain no BPA, PFAS or phthalates.
Frequently Asked Questions
What's the problem with polyester?
Polyester, nylon and spandex are plastics. Worn against the skin they trap heat and sweat, hold on to odor, shed microplastics and can carry chemicals such as BPA, phthalates and PFAS. That is why we only work with natural fibers.
What materials do you use?
Natural fibers only: GOTS-certified organic cotton, Merino wool and, in our hemp line, a hemp and organic cotton blend. No polyester, nylon or spandex anywhere.
What makes the price higher than other brands?
Certified organic cotton and fine Merino cost several times more than plastic fibers, and our garments are made in small batches by audited partners who pay fair wages. Every fabric is also tested by an independent lab.
What are GOTS & OEKO-TEX Standard 100?
GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certifies that cotton was grown and processed without synthetic pesticides or toxic chemicals. OEKO-TEX Standard 100 means the fibers, fabrics and dyes were checked by a third party for harmful substances, including BPA and PFAS.
What dyes do you use?
Our dyes are certified under OEKO-TEX Standard 100 and GOTS-compliant processes, so they are screened for heavy metals and other harmful substances.
Are your clothes 3rd party tested?
Yes. On top of the factory certifications, our fabrics are sent to independent labs and tested for BPA, PFAS and phthalates.
Where are your products made?
We work with a handful of manufacturing partners we've had for years, based in Turkey, Vietnam and China. All factories hold GOTS and OEKO-TEX certification, and our team has toured each one personally.
How do I pick my size / do your products shrink?
Each product page shows a fit note right under the size options, plus a size chart. Cotton is pre-shrunk; Merino can shrink about 4-7% after the first one or two washes, so washing cold and drying flat is best.
What's the return policy?
Returns and exchanges are simple. Our Refund policy page lists the return window and the steps to start one.
